Why does Jordan Seiler use illegal means instead of fighting “illegal” advertising in court?

The only body in New York that can decide whether public advertising is legal or not is the New York Department of building and housing – not anyone else. Without the resolution by the NY department of building and housing it is illegal to replace any public advertising.

Jordan Seiler’s Public Ad Campaign and New York Streets Takeover seem to be his instruments for self-promotion

All this hype around Jordan Seiler and his campaigns (Public Ad Campaign and New York Street Campaign) makes an average American think of Jordan Seiler not as a fighter against public space misuse, but rather as a hyper-active self-promoter who is very eager to capitalize on public attention. Jordan Seiler’s story looks very similar to that of the notorious British street artist – Banksy.

As he says, “I have been wanting to break the frame and begin collapsing the space between the advertisement and the outdoor environment.
